Wikipedia, the encyclopedia that anyone can edit, is the 8th busiest website with more than 50 million visitors per day.
That’s much more traffic than the New York Times, Wall Street Journal and Encyclopedia Britannica combined. Nearly 5% of everyone on the planet who goes online today will read something from the English language Wikipedia. Among social media sites, only YouTube has comparable visibility.
With its broad reach and permanent placement near the top of the search results, search marketers need to monitor what Wikipedia says about their company, brands, and industry. Mainstream media reporters, financial analysts, bloggers and other websites frequently borrow content and get ideas from Wikipedia.
At this timely SEMNE event, Wikipedia administrator and search marketing consultant, Jonathan Hochman, will explain appropriate ways for businesses and organizations to interact with Wikipedia. We’ll look at several case studies, and answer all your questions.
